HOLD ON
"The soul would have no
rainbow if the eyes had no tears".
An
Indian Chief, 1876.
Can
the tiniest of tears actually hold a rainbow?
(well...eye know)
Out on the back steps that
sunny winter afternoon
As I sat with my face buried in my hands
trying
to
stop
the tears
stop
the pain
stop the endless thoughts from going through my brain
stopped
breathing for a minute.
(as
if it would stop you from getting inside my
heart.)
Even
thought it's the one thing I want
more
than anything in this world
I'm
just so scared to let you in.
The
internal struggle was fierce
I
was winning for a moment there,
but
your love was too strong
and
I was overcome
with Tears
surrendered
let them flow.
When I opened my eyes
saw a rainbow
inside
my tears.
smiled,
because
right then
knew you had been trying to reach me all along
to
tell me to hold on
just a little while longer
and that everything
is going to be alright.
believe you

it is impossible to take a picture of a rainbow inside tears...you have to
witness it yourself.
I found the quote after I had written this poem. I have since been searching
for the original speaker of the quote. Most say either unknown
or as I quoted : An Indian Chief, 1876.
This is the closest I came to finding a reference to the original quote
song used
Hold on by Gary B
