2 STEPS BEHIND

Two steps behind

Kevin skipped excitedly to school that morning
He was getting an award that day
His mother and two younger siblings
Were walking two steps behind him

Kevin came to the intersection kerb
One they had crossed over 300 times before
The lady in the Audi 4wd wasn’t looking his way
When she pushed her accelerator to the floor

A blood curdling scream from his mother
Was all that neighbours and passers-by heard
The lady got out of her car and frantically screamed
“But he came from no-where!”

Kevin never made it to school that day
His award still sits on his teachers table
Christmas cards in his backpack not to be delivered
Two families shattered…Never to be the same again

14th December 2012

All the students from K - 6 coloured in a paper person, and
they were strung up around the perimeter of the school gates.

Kevins favorite colour was blue.

BEYOND BLUE

Beyond blue

(senryu)

Edging emotions
descending into despair
can I step over?

A window appears
gateway to my only hope
today I will soar

UNDER THE POMEGRANATE TREE

Under the Pomegranate Tree

a forbidden encounter...

We would meet at the onset of eve'
under the branches of your leaves
shading us from prying eyes
those that could not fathom why you and I
were simply... inseparable
To me, you were irrisistable

We had heard the whispers around town
accusations of infidelity abound
You had learned to harden your skin
so as to not get your heart broken
by those feelings of futility

Stolen moments in the late afternoon
I wanted to make the most of you
closing my eyes we communicated tactilely
holding and opening you intuitively
taking time to partake in you leisurely
tasting the sweetness of your flow~e~tree

Bombarding my senses
with your overflowing elixir
I felt you filling me with your virility
a decadent rite of future fertility
imparting me with  heavenly equanimity
with arils of new life, growth and unity
under that tree, we contemplated our destiny

MOMENTS IN ... (entremet)

MOMENTS IN...
~entremet~

TIME

Such a precious commodity

The less of it you have
the less you are willing to spend it on
frivolities
it's worth rising exponentially.

You can ask me for all the time

(and space)

you need...

I don't mind
I have an eternity up my sleeve

But what I wouldn't do
to trade but a moment

savoring every bit of you

Still I wait.....

APPETEASER ( amuse-bouche)

APPETEASER

~amuse-bouche~

What you managed to convey
in those few well chosen words
acted like an aperitif to my hungry soul
whetting my appetite
you left me yearning for more

I wait....

SCINTILLATING CHIROGRAPHY (plat principle)

SCINTILLATING CHIROGRAPHY

~plat princple~

Once the juices start flowing
you simply must keep going

I finally learned to stop counting each and every step
and allowed myself to connect
with the sea of affinity
enjoying a

long

  slow

deliberate

 stroll

beyond ambiguity

along the sands
(of time)
allowing waves of e-motion
to wash over me
tuning into my inner rhythm
truthfully
effortlessly

And as my story continues to unfold
Time ... begins to lose it's hold

slowly i begin shedding the layers

...building up that quiet storm

I give myself permission
to fight off self derision

(a recipe for success)

succumbing
becoming
(the main ingredient)

before I know it
i've reached the climax

A scintillating ending
that leaves you wanting

still more....
