DISPLACED

DISPLACED

I am a man, a father
Doing his best to simply survive
Feed my family, keep them safe
Most days I wonder how we even stayed alive
That day the men with guns came
and forced down my door
They grabbed hold of my wife
while holding me down with a knife
Raped and tortured her
eventually taking her life
As if that wasn't enough they went for my 14 year old daughter
I will never get her screams out of my head
most days I wish too that I was dead
but how could I save her with the knife at my throat
And you ask me why I decided to get on that boat.

Filthy Untouchable Lost Black Boys
Go back to where you came from!

I am a man of great standing
it is my duty to distribute food, resolve disputes
To Mother Earth we give our prayers
We once roamed this country proud and free
That day I watched your boats sail to our shores
We got written out of your history
You say it is to help me, to assimilate me
But I no longer have any say
You systematically desecrate our sacred lands
Sent us to reservations of your own choosing
Then sell off our home to the highest bidder
You show me pieces of paper
that have no true value to any one but you
And all the while you sing your Anthem
which has absolutely no meaning for me?

I now roam this land
no papers to say who I am
my history gone
the life I knew abruptly stolen in a moment
my only happy memories
are when I remember the sounds of their laughter...
I wish I could go back to where I came from
where I belong.
