22 DEGREES

22 DEGREES

I had been fighting an internal battle for some time now
I honestly couldn't tell if I was coming or going
finding increasingly, that my best company
was my solitude

Reaching out to you for so long now,
only to be met with your icy disposition
I'm so cold
And tired
Don't you hear me calling out to you?

So one night in the middle of June
I decided on a whim to take a walk
Clutching my scarf to my cheek
trying to keep the ice cold wind at bay
The wet road reflecting my sadness.

I look to the sky for answers.

Despite the earlier rain
I had a clear vision into the night sky
My eyes opening wide
at the beauty unfolding before my eyes.

The moon was at it's zenith
The silence around me,
my only witness to this magical sight.

I see some approaching headlights.
The person inside stops to see if I'm alright

I have a smile on my face
and implore him to look outside his window into space

“can you see it too?”

The beautiful dark stranger looks into the sky
I can see a twinkle in his eye

“YES...I see it too”.

Standing there in the middle of the empty road
a shared glimpse of the ascending node

The moon and her halo

He drove off and left me to ponder
my heart was filled with such wonder

That night (i believe)
the universe gave a message to me:-
Sometimes it takes us to look beyond what we see
for you to reveal the many degrees of possibility.

And best of all
you took the time to remind me
that you will love me
eternally

Pledging your promise with a diamond ring

Diamond Dust

I saw my first moon halo in 1993.
In Australia JUNE is actually Wintertime.

If you right click on the last two images, they will take you to
a link that explains how halos form around the moon and sun,
and describe DIAMOND DUST.

  2. Very nice story, Teresa. The moon is a favorite companion of mine as well. It is my counsel and court in solemn lonely conversation on the night.

  3. I should really copy and paste my comments....Lovely write. Your winters are our summers. But in SW Florida, the weather rarely changes. It's pretty much summer year round.
