We all begin our journeys
as unformed
undefined beings
undefined beings
taking in our surroundings
interacting
interacting
interpreting
external stimuli
all begin to lay down maps and pathways in our brains
a network of ever expanding stimulation
information
then one monumental day
we take our first steps
me
the first of millions
where we go forward
to explore
sometimes stumble
sometimes fall
but ever moving forward
into unknown territory
and unfamiliar terrains
ever expanding our brains
fighting
for our very survival
for our very survival
(of the fittest)
no set path
countless forks
(in the road)
many crossroads
(to bear)
One day, we get to what appears to be the end of the road
nowhere else to go...
nothing but more of the unknown
no way out...but to cross
Thanks to natures cycles
the rising
and ebbing
of tides
and ebbing
of tides
(and emotions)
we get a window
of opportunity
of opportunity
and continue
forward
making the most of our accumulated knowledge
and tools
(of survival)
(of survival)
all carried with us like baggage
all adding to our load.
(It's a long road...
there's no turning back)
often times
what we once believed
or perceived
to be an oasis
lush
and full of innocence
has dried up
become inhospitable
turned into dessert
shifting sands covering our tracks
burying our treasures
Thirsty
un-quenched
delirious
about to die
we begin to dig
to find those hidden sources
those wells that run deep
inside
inside
restoring life
but what of all those other treasures we lost
and buried along the way?
and buried along the way?
Remnants of our lives and most intimate moments
Only to be dug up by another
for closer examination
scrutiny
and
interpretation
archaeologist's
psychologists
(not that different, if you ask me)
both dig into our past
uncovering secrets
(of our souls)
and
our tools
(of survival)
many we give up easily
...way too easily
But the best treasures
we keep deep inside us
to be shared
passed on
kept alive
to this very day
in our memories
and
in our DNA
aka
“gateway of grief”
or
“the red sea crossing"
(not the biblical one)
