THIS GIRL I KNOW

THIS GIRL I KNOW

She can remember the day she realized her father had left...standing there in the middle of the playground all alone
She was 8 years old

She can remember the first time a man touched her between her legs under the pretense of teaching her about the birds and the bees...he was babysitting her
She was 9 years old

She can remember the moment she promised herself that she would never speak about her worries, fears or problems to anyone ever again
She was 12 years old

She can remember the time her best friend turned on her, and hurled a chair from one end of the room to where she was sitting screaming
“you fucking Grease ball bitch!”
She was 14 years old

She can remember the second time a man, who was old enough to be her grandfather, took her, and touched her between her legs while reeking of alcohol
She was 15 years old

She can remember her first love...her first time...and how much it tore her heart out when he left her for another
She was 16 years old

She can remember the third time a man tried to touch her, reeking of Alcohol as she lay sleeping, babysitting his children
She was 17 years old

She can remember the first time she was threatened by the man who was supposed to love her...always telling her she was ugly and disgusting
She was 19 years old

She can remember the day a bus driver tricked her into taking an unscheduled d-tour alone on his bus, dropping her in the middle of nowhere when she refused his advances.
She was 22 years old

She can remember the second time someone hurled a chair at her whilst in a drunken stupor, accusing her of things she didn't do...missing her head by centimetres...he had escalated from the threats
She was 23 years old

She can remember the day she woke up, and decided that she had had enough, packed her shit and fled, never to look back
She was 24 years old

She can remember the day she figured out that none of those things were her fault, she had not asked for it, nor was she stupid
She was 42 years old

She remembers the day she forgave every single one of those motherfuckers, in fact THANKED them, for showing her that it was SHE who was the great one, the powerful one, the one who made them feel better about themselves.

She was 44 years old

I put the following music clip together ...
this is dedicated to all those who have been hurt or abused ...  so many untold stories.
(if it is a bit slow to load in the beginning...i found if you pause it, and restart...it will play unobstructed)
